Now meet the man behind the verses.
JOHN SLIM is a journalist who lives in Worcestershire. He has no idea why he began writing limericks, but he started in 1992, soon after taking early retirement. He has now written more than 7,000 and is unable to stop. His wife and grown-up family despair. With six books published he thinks there are probably another two volumes. He thinks there is probably a word for his condition, but he does not know what it is. Comedian DON MACLEAN, who mentioned Rotten Haystacks and Rather Rottener on his Sunday morning programme on Radio 2, later wrote to him: "You have a curious mind." John is happy to give talks about
having fun with words, into which — naturally! — he lobs a few limericks, and after which he
introduces his books. It is always a fun-filled occasion. |
